I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Poland (MFA) in 1987. Painting
was my original field of research, however, I have been involved in printmaking
and in theatre activities ever since my academy days. Although printmaking eventually
became the dominant form of expression for me, I consider my experience in these
three fields equally important to my artistic accomplishment. I moved to Canada in 1988; I worked as a painter, master printer and art restorer. Between 1991 and 1998 I studied Semiotics and Art History at the University of Toronto, actively participating in the creative efforts of the Graduate Center for the Study of Drama. Since 1994 I have been affiliated with Open Studio, where I make my prints and teach printmaking. I am primarily interested in the comprehensive exploration of traditional intaglio procedures, aiming to uncover their potential in relationship to contemporary aesthetics.
